Mid-Amateur Men's - Championship Information | Golf Sask

1.       The Championship will start on Monday, July 9th, at 7:00 AM, weather permitting.

2.       Draws will be posted on the Golf Saskatchewan website at www.golfsaskatchcewan.org in the Tournament Section and The Willows GCC Pro Shop.

3.       It is the competitor’s responsibility to know his proper starting time.

4.       The booking and payment of practice rounds is the sole responsibility of the competitor.

5.       Cancelations/Refunds are as per the Refund/Cancelation Policy

6.       An additional $40.00 charge will be applied against all NSF cheques.

7.       Paper entries forms must be accompanied with payment by money order or personalized cheque.  Cash payment will be accepted if dropped off at the office in person.

8.       Online entry using BlueGolf can be paid for using VISA or MasterCard.

9.       Entries will be accepted on a first received priority.

10.    All tournament entries will be confirmed by email, unless competitor specifies to be confirmed by mail.

Tournament General Information, Eligibility and Regulations:

1.       All competitors must present a validated 2012 Golf Canada membership card (or other recognized golf association/union) and a verification of Handicap Factor to the Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Committee at the registration desk prior to start of play in the tournament. 

a.             Failure to do so may result in disqualification

2.       Handicap factor must be updated within 15 days of the Championship, signed and verified by the Handicap Chair or designate.

3.       All tournament entry applications are subject to the approval of the Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Committee and may be revoked at any time prior to or during the championship.

4.       Play shall be in strict accordance with the current RCGA Rules of Golf (2012-15).

5.       The Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Committee will post the Tie Breaking and Retrogression Procedures prior to the start of the competition.

6.       Rules decisions shall be decided by the Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Rules Committee, and shall be final.

7.       Provincial quota spots representing Saskatchewan must have a permanent Saskatchewan residence.

a.       NOTE: Exception for Golf Canada members of the Lloydminster GCC.

8.          Mid-Amateur Men’s Eligibility - male amateurs 25 years and over as of September 4, 2012 with a handicap factor of 20.0 or lower 

a.       Senior competitors may compete for the Mid-Amateur Men’s Quota Spots    

9.      By entering the Mid-Amateur Men’s Championship the player also agrees to the additional Golf Saskatchewan regulations:

a.       Amateur Code of Conduct;

b.       Dress Code including Footwear;

c.        Parent & Spectators Code of Conduct.

d.       Refund & Cancelation.

In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.

The Golf Saskatchewan Dress Code is effective as of January 1, 2009.  The philosophy of the code is to respect the game, maintain golf’s culture and traditions while allowing the variety of today’s comfortable, stylish performance clothing.  Should a host facility have a stricter dress code, its policy will take precedence.

 

All competitors and caddies must adhere to the code anytime the competitor is on the host golf course property during all practice and tournament rounds.  A breach of the Golf Saskatchewan Dress Code may result in disqualification.

 

The Golf Saskatchewan Rules & Tournament Committee will review questionable attire.  Participants in violation of the Dress Code may not be allowed to tee off or, if the violation is discovered once play has begun, the participant may be asked to discontinue play.

 

Required Dress:

1.           Collared shirts must be worn at all times.  Mock or turtle necks are acceptable.

2.           Hats/visors must be worn with brim forward; players must remove hat/visor while indoors at host facility.

 

Prohibited Dress:

1.           Tank tops, T-shirts.

2.           Denim shorts, short-shorts, cut-off shorts, gym shorts.

3.           Jeans.

4.           For Junior’s – any clothing with alcoholic or tobacco branding.

5.           Clothing with inappropriate graphics, logos, and/or slogans.

6.           Shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes.

 

Female Prohibited Dress:

1.           Shorts or pants made from spandex or fleece “sweatshirt” fabrics

2.           Golf appropriate tops may be worn tucked or un-tucked but no midriff or cleavage can be shown  

 

Footwear:

1.           Caddies must wear flat-soled shoes (no spikes) for events allowing the use of a caddie.

2.           It is a condition of Golf Saskatchewan competitions that shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited.  Penalty for breach of this condition is DISQUALIFICATON.   

1.           Entry fee is $165 + G.S.T (=$173.25).

2.           Entries close Friday, July 6th at 11:59:59 pm.

1.           156 competitors regardless of gender in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Amateur Women’s Championship

1.           54 hole stroke-play with no cut line.

Golf Saskatchewan Amateur Code of Conduct

Golf Saskatchewan takes great pride in the quality of its players, host facilities and broad community involvement at each tournament. In order to continue making Golf Saskatchewan tournaments enjoyable for everyone, the Association requires all participants to adhere to a set of guidelines known as the Golf Saskatchewan Code of Conduct.  The Golf Saskatchewan Code of Conduct is to be followed throughout the entire competition.

An amateur competitor will behave in a manner becoming of a Golf Canada member at all times by:

  • Acting with integrity and honour,
  • Respecting fellow competitors, officials, and volunteers,
  • Displaying proper etiquette,
  • Wearing appropriate attire, and
  • Being polite.
  • Golf Saskatchewan has a Zero Tolerance regulation of abusive behavior or actions towards its staff, officials, volunteers, host committee, fellow competitors and any member of the host golf club or community.

Code of Conduct on the Golf Course:

1.       Will strictly adhere to the Rules of Golf.

2.       Will complete all competitive rounds of golf, unless otherwise approved by the Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Committee.

3.       Will adhere to the dress code during practice and competitive rounds.

4.       Will demonstrate respect for tournament officials, volunteers, spectators, host club staff and course, and their fellow golfers.

5.       Will refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct, including abusive language, profane language, club throwing, or abuse of golf course or Golf Saskatchewan tournament property.

6.       Will refrain from use of drugs or alcohol.

a)       Exception – alcohol is allowed at the Women’s Rosebowl and Mixed Team Championships

7.       Will not demonstrate any other conduct not becoming of a Golf Canada member.

Code of Conduct off the Golf Course:

1.       Will not be associated with vandalism

2.       Will not use or have association with drugs.

3.       Will not demonstrate abusive behaviour towards any fellow competitor, tournament officials, host club members, or community officials. 

4.       Will avoid any other conduct not becoming of a Golf Canada member.

Code of Conduct Penalties:

1.       The penalty for a Code of Conduct violation may be immediate disqualification or dismissal from an event.  For an on-course violation, Golf Saskatchewan may opt to issue a warning for a 1ST offence.  Where circumstances warrant, the Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Director, Official or Supervisor may send a competitor home in which case the competitor will be responsible for all costs incurred.

2.       A player’s entry is subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by Golf Saskatchewan. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

3.       Any Code of Conduct violation may result in:

a)       a written letter to the player and his or her parent/guardian,

b)       Non Entry Acceptance into future Golf Saskatchewan sanctioned tournament(s) for which he or she has been accepted.

c)       the suspension of the player’s membership in the Golf Saskatchewan/Golf Canada indefinitely.

In the event of an alleged violation of the Code of Conduct, the Golf Saskatchewan Tournament & Rules Committee will investigate the allegation within 30 days of the incident and, if it deems there are sufficient grounds to warrant disqualification from future Golf Saskatchewan tournaments or suspension of Golf Canada membership, may make such a recommendation to the Golf Saskatchewan Board of Directors, which will then deal with the recommendation in accordance with Sections 3.6 and 3.7 of the SGA Bylaws.  Any player who has been found guilty of a violation of the Code of Conduct will not be eligible for post-season honours.

Non-Compliance:

The Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Committee will impose penalties for Code of Conduct violations.  All violations or infractions may be recorded, referred to the Golf Saskatchewan Disciplinary Committee for further investigation, and kept on file as part of a competitor’s permanent record.  Where deemed necessary a written letter of warning will be sent to the competitor, with a copy to his/her parent(s) or guardian(s) if applicable.  The Disciplinary Committee may impose additional penalties or sanctions.  In the event that the Golf Saskatchewan Disciplinary Committee decides that a suspension is warranted, the competitor and his/her parents or guardian (if applicable) will be advised of the suspension in writing.  A competitor may appeal a Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Committee decision to the Golf Saskatchewan Disciplinary Committee.  The competitor (and his/her parents or guardian, if applicable) will be notified of the date when the appeal will be heard.  The Golf Saskatchewan Disciplinary Committee will review all submitted materials and presentations and then issue a written decision within 30 days of such a hearing. The decision of the Golf Saskatchewan Disciplinary Committee is final.  Competitors are responsible for their own decisions and are encouraged to consult with Golf Saskatchewan or Golf Canada representatives or event organizers before undertaking any action or activity that may be considered a violation of the code of conduct.

Misconduct in other jurisdictions and non-Golf Saskatchewan events

Should Golf Saskatchewan be informed or become aware of misconduct by a competitor in non-Golf Saskatchewan sanctioned events either in Saskatchewan or other jurisdictions, Golf Saskatchewan reserves the right to impose additional penalties, discipline or sanctions against the competitor, including, but not limited to, non-selection or removal from teams, quota spots and denial of entry into Golf Saskatchewan sanctioned events.

Golf Saskatchewan Parent & Spectator Code of Conduct

Golf Saskatchewan takes great pride in the caliber of play, player conduct and dedication displayed at all of our championships.  Competitors are required to adhere to a Code of Conduct throughout the entire championship and it is reasonable to expect those observing the competition to follow the same principles. 

 

In order to show respect to the competitors, the involvement of our host clubs and volunteers while maintaining a fun yet professional atmosphere, Golf Saskatchewan requires all spectators adhere to the following Golf Saskatchewan Parent & Spectator Code of Conduct.  Failure to do so may result in your removal from the course.

A parent and/or spectator will behave in a manner becoming of a Golf Canada member at all times by:

·             Acting with integrity and honour,

·             Respecting fellow competitors, officials, and volunteers,

·             Displaying proper etiquette,

·             Wearing appropriate attire, and

·             Being polite.

·             Golf Saskatchewan has a Zero Tolerance regulation of abusive behavior or actions towards its staff, officials, volunteers, host committee, fellow competitors and any member of the host golf club or community.


Who this applies to
:

·             The following is for parents and/or spectators who are not the player’s caddy. 

·             Junior events prohibit the use of a caddy.   


When on the golf course:

1.             Spectators attend Golf Saskatchewan events at their own risk.

2.             Please keep your distance from the competitors (approximately 25 yards) while following them during play.

3.             Do not walk in the fairways during the tournament rounds. 

4.             No advice is to be given to competitors during stipulated rounds, especially if the competitor is a relation or friend.  

5.             Make sure to avoid all communication, verbal and non-verbal, which may be construed by others (competitors, parents and Rules Officials) as advice.

6.             Avoid distracting competitors at all times on the course.

7.             Refrain from bringing cell phones, cameras or radios onto the course.

8.             Be careful to not delay play for following groups by standing in their target or landing area.

9.             You may help maintain the Pace of Play by assisting to spot golf balls for competitors, after being requested to do so.

10.          Should you have a participant in the championship, please feel free to ask if they need anything to eat or drink at the turn.  The turn is between the 9th Green and 10th tee box or it could be the 18th green and 1st tee box

11.          Golf Saskatchewan does not allow spectators to have power carts on the golf course without permission.  The Golf Saskatchewan Tournament Director will review each request for a power cart on an individual basis.


Regarding the Rules of Golf:

1.       Allow Golf Saskatchewan Rules Officials to administer rulings.  A spectator and/or parent will be brought into a situation only if the Rules Official asks you.

2.       If you have a child in the event, encourage them to familiarize themselves with the Rules of Golf and the supplementary local rules specific to the championship so that they are aware of the options available to them.

 

Respecting the Host Club and Golf Etiquette:

1.       Familiarize yourself and adhere to the host facility’s dress code.  Some facilities may not allow blue jeans, T-shirts, etc. 

2.       If you are going to wear golf shoes as you walk the course, make sure they do not have metal or traditionally designed spikes.

3.       Please turn off your cell phones if you are on the golf course.

4.       Respect the host facility’s policy if cell phones are not allowed at all on the grounds.

 

Misconduct in other jurisdictions and non-Golf Saskatchewan events:

Should Golf Saskatchewan be informed or become aware of misconduct by a parent of spectator in non-Golf Saskatchewan sanctioned events either in Saskatchewan or other jurisdictions, Golf Saskatchewan reserves the right to impose its own discipline or sanctions against the parent or spectator, including, but not limited to, denial of entry or access to Golf Saskatchewan sanctioned events.

 

Penalty and/or Penalties:

Parents and/or Spectators - Rule 8 prohibits a competitor from receiving advice, except under specified circumstances. Competitors are advised to ask parents, spectators and companions to follow at a distance (recommended minimum of 25 yards) so there can be no question that communication can be construed to be advice. 

 

A competitor is subject to a 2-stroke penalty for each infraction or disqualification in extreme circumstances.

1.       A player is not allowed to use a power cart during a stipulated round in this championship.  

2.       A player is allowed to use or have a caddie during a stipulated round in this championship.

1.       All players should register Sunday, July 8th at the time established in the Confirmation Letter/Notice.

2.       Please ensure your practice round is booked and played prior to the registration.

3.       Golf Saskatchewan is not responsible for practice round cut short due to in-climate weather or darkness.
